Team

Our 12-headed research team from Innsbruck University consists actually only of one quarter of Austrians, funnily enough seven students and one of our tutors are from Germany. We (the students) are all doing our Master Studies in Geography, more precisely in “Global Change – Regional Sustainability”. Our supervisors Dr. Karl-Michael Höferl and Dipl.-Ing. M.Eng. Simone Sandholz are experts in urban planning and development and also in sustainability research.

We are now spending 20 days in Indonesia, thirteen in Yogyakarta and seven in Solo, both located on the island of Java. During our field research we are living and working together each time in a homestay on the campus of the universities UGM and UNS and of course in the field.

Our student team:

– Susane Kubisch
– Jana Fürstenberg
– Stefan Niederer
– Fabian Sandholzer
– Simon Kranebitter
– Tim Salow
– Nils Unthan
– Kilian Hinzpeter
– Leonhard Graf von Hoyos

Probably not our best picture after getting up at 3am, but happy anyway

Beside the hot and wet climate (although it’s ‘winter’ in Indonesia) and very different languages and intercultural encounters between us and the local students, the days on Java are a challenge but also very interesting and exciting. We appreciate to have this oportunity which is given to us during our studies in a country which is mostly known thereby making holidays.

After some days in Indonesia we are now really adapted, as you can see… we proudly present our group Batik, the picture was taken with our selfie-stick!
